The National Maximum Taxi Fare
The National Transport Authority (NTA) sets a national maximum fare for taxis. Every VibeFare trip follows it:
- Metered trips: you pay what the taximeter shows, and never more than the maximum.
- Fixed-price trips: the price is agreed before you book and is never above the meter maximum for the trip.
- No surge pricing. XL and wheelchair-accessible taxis cost the same as a standard taxi.
- Taxi fares are not subject to VAT.
Licensed drivers and vehicles
Every driver holds a valid SPSV driver licence, SPSV vehicle licence and SPSV insurance. You can see your driver's name, car and registration in the app before you get in.
Your receipt
After every trip the app gives you a receipt showing the fare, and for metered trips the NTA meter maximum for your trip.
If something is wrong
- Fare: send a fare query from your receipt. We recalculate the legal maximum for the route driven and refund any overcharge automatically.
- Anything else: use Help in the app or email support@vibefare.ie. We record taxi service complaints as the NTA requires.
- You can also complain to the National Transport Authority directly.
